The main objective of the VWI Chile Journey is to contribute to better decisions impacting water by implementing the five Valuing Water Principles (VWP) in the consolidation of Strategic Water Boards and Plans in Chile. For this, two or three basins participating in Chile’s Just Water Transition will be selected as pilots, where VWI will execute support activities and planning. As a result, we aim to strengthen more participative, transparent and equitable water governance processes, and to better understand how the VWP can contribute to water security.

For this purpose, the following specific objectives are proposed:

• Strengthen informed water decision-making processes by disseminating existing scientific data and other knowledge, which provides a better understanding of future scenarios.

• Contribute to building trust between the actors within the basins and on the national level.

• Raising awareness on the value of water including all actors, with specific emphasis on youth, women, and vulnerable communities.

• Contribute to the empowerment of groups that have been marginalised in decision-making about water.
